We are currently performing an in-water refit to our Cherubini 37 in West Palm Beach preparatory to moving aboard later this year. We have our fair share of "issues" even here related to the use of our "public" docks (aka waterfront infrastructure, as the survey would term them). Clearly, this issue has major lifestyle implications for those of us desiring to continue enjoying Florida waterways, not to mention spending our money in waterfront communities. Stay the course!<br />s/v DIZZY, Palm BeachCEPnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2802827704617117238.post-30995720280760027812015-02-05T08:30:34.112-05:002015-02-05T08:30:34.112-05:00thought that was GEORGIA lol ENJOYthought that was GEORGIA lol ENJOYZenkayaker Colenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2802827704617117238.post-91914534282357051612015-02-05T08:30:30.480-05:002015-02-05T08:30:30.480-05:00morning kevin !!! most all coastal properties do ...morning kevin !!! most all coastal properties do have some water coverred ares these are included in the tax base but not in useable land management uses .still in all they should not whine about the view they have it 100% of the time ,we only have it for at most [mech breakdown] for 1 week .ENJOY your say [nice boat]Zenkayaker Colenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2802827704617117238.post-80224784516326756152015-02-05T07:27:22.495-05:002015-02-05T07:27:22.495-05:00From the chart I see that 49% of the respondents a...From the chart I see that 49% of the respondents are in favor of 100 feet or less setback, clearly a larger majority that the 32% that favor the 150 foot setback. Its simple to just organize the responses in broader categories, i.e. 0 to 100 ft. category vs. 150 ft. category. Shouldn't the majority rule? Also having a large non-determined stakeholder group is like having a large number of unregistered voters on election day. Clearly the non-determined stakeholders in this survey have no legal standing here. They just might be a class of kindergarteners filling out the form provided by their teachers. So, was it a valid survey? Bottom line IMHO, if these...Thanks for the update. Bottom line IMHO, if these waterfront homeowners don't want boats anchored off from their houses "in state owned waters" then they should not have bought a house on the water. Their survey doesn't extend beyond their property line. If they bought a house on a golf course then guess what, they're guaranteed to see people playing golf. If you bought a home on the edge of a nature preserve, yep, you'll see wildlife. If you bought a house by an airport you can expect to see planes flying by. If you buy a house on the water you should expect to see boaters and they have the right to anchor off in these waters that these private homeowners do not own. Perhaps they should sell and move to a waterfront home that is not on waters conducive to anchoring. On the other side of the coin, cruisers should morally give respect to those property owners within view of their vessels, .i.e., playing loud music, dumping garbage, etc.. One bad egg can make a homeowner generalize the majority . Keep up the Good Fight Wally! There's a lot riding on you. 0% set back is my vote cause like you say, if you give them 50 feet then they shoot for an easier to attain amendment for the 150 ft which eliminates the limited amount of anchorages we already have.
